Avanade Inc. Technical Solution Architect – Dynamics 365 for CE (Dynamics CRM) in Minneapolis, Minnesota

The Technical Solution Architect is a pre-sales (sales engineering) role at Avanade dedicated to helping our clients and internal teams craft elegant technical solutions to complex business problems using the Dynamics 365 for Customer Engagement (CRM) platform and related components. The Technical Solution Architect will help drive sales in our 6 North America regions by providing technical and solution guidance to our team of Business Solution Architects in the regions. They will help develop and execute sales strategies, drive proposal efforts and provide technical sales support.

Scope of Responsibility:

Lead technical side of sales pursuits for Dynamics 365 for CE engagements.

Ownership for the technical approach and estimation of a proposal during the sales process.

Operate in a senior technology advisory capacity to CxOs and their senior leadership.

Operate in a senior technology advisory capacity for our internal sales teams.

Primary technical contact on client engagements, such as Proofs of Concept & Pilots.

Consults, advising our clients and internal stakeholders on the best uses of technology to solve problems.

Present technical approach and solutions to C-level clients and other technical leadership.

Execute strategic engagements including: Architecture Design Sessions (ADS) and Technical Workshops.

Design, scope, organize and deliver training events for both client-facing and internal team members.

Learn our client's business, their organization, systems, challenges and goals.

Participate in, and lead stakeholder brainstorming, technical planning and design sessions. You're not just a passive observer, but an active contributor and facilitator.

Craft the technical vision by mapping requirements to technical solutions, communicated through functional and technical design documents.

Articulate execution strategy through roadmaps, estimates & implementation plans.

Ensure quality through enforcement of best practice and project governance.

Build prototypes and proofs of concept to validate technical decisions.

Lead by example through implementation of challenging core components.

Potentially work on more than one pursuit or project concurrently.

Actively participate in Dynamics community knowledge sharing and growth.

Opportunity to grow into other leadership roles, including driving technical thought leadership and taking on other people and practice management responsibilities.


Required Experience:

  • Strong Dynamics 365 for CE (CRM) technical architecture background. Needs to understand the inner-workings of the platform, integration capabilities, how it fits into Azure, etc.

  • Solid communication skills - This is primarily a sales role. The candidate needs to be able to convince a room full of architects that the solution being pitched is the right one. The candidate also needs to be able to get business stakeholders excited about a technical platform component which they might not otherwise even understand.

  • Solid presentation skills – The candidate needs to be able to present architectural and other technical concepts to a room full of both business and technical stakeholders. They must be able to explain highly technical concepts to business users in a language they can understand and completely geek out with other architects.

  • Ability to present and discuss DevOps best practices for Dynamics 365 for CE with an audience of architects and developers.

Strongly Desired Experience:

  • Knowledge of Azure architecture and its most common touch points with Dynamics 365 for CE. The focus areas of most interest in Azure are Azure Service Bus, Azure Logic Apps, Azure IoT Hub, Azure Machine Learning and areas of Azure Cognitive Services.

  • Some development background in any language - C# and JavaScript with Dynamics 365 for CE preferred.

  • Sales and/or pre-sales experience, which includes understanding how a sales cycle goes & how to delicately handle tough topics like competitive products & functional areas where our solution is weak.


Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field preferred.
