The Sr. Director, Talent and Performance Management leads the development and delivery of the Talent Management, Performance Management and Employee Engagement strategies for Avanade. Work is produced, either directly or through the teams(s), on-time and with accuracy.
The Sr. Director, Talent and Performance Management works collaboratively with the heads of Leadership Development, HR PMO, Change Enablement, People Ecosystem (PECOS), Inclusion & Diversity, HR Technologies, Talent Acquisition and Learning & Development
About the role:
This role establishes and manages the necessary processes, systems, and interventions to ensure that there is an environment where employees can build the appropriate skills that differentiate Avanade in the marketplace and raise their individual contribution year over year, and where and Avanade has the necessary talent now and in the future to meet its strategic aspirations.
Day-to-day, you will:
Work with senior business and HR leaders to create a clear definition of what constitutes current and future leadership talent in Avanade, aligned with business strategy, able to meet business aspirations, and incorporating user friendly processes that effectively identify that talent in the organization.
Provide frameworks and interventions that accelerate the development of talent in Avanade so that the quality of talent is as good as and preferably better than the competition, and the pipeline of talent is sufficient to meet Avanade’s strategic needs.
Support and collaborate with business leads, business HR, Career Advisors and Area O&LD Leads to:
develop all Avanade processes and systems to support talent identification, assessment, development and deployment; provide the necessary framework and content for talent assessment, identification, validation and feedback processes across Avanade so that operational HR and line managers can use them effectively and consistently
ensure effective use of the talent frameworks available to them and are pursuing agreed talent development plans which relate directly to the Avanade business plan and succession plans in each of their areas
identify key competence deficits or specific regional talent requirements where localized efforts are needed to address talent issues
work with business HR and O&LD Leads to deliver localized/customized efforts to address specific talent needs
Define and deliver the Avanade approach to Executive coaching and mentoring, in support of the talent development agenda
Develop and implement a performance management approach that is simple and easy to use; one which assists Avanade employees to raise their contribution year over year and is embedded as a key people management responsibility.
Work with business leaders, business HR, and Career Advisors to establish ways of more effectively use project deployment and on-the-job development as a means of accelerating the development of internal capability
Ensure that the performance management system is consistent with and integrated with the key talent management processes so that the business sees them as aligned and coherent.
Build the capability of HR, Career Advisors and project leaders within Avanade so that giving and receiving timely, robust feedback and coaching on performance on the job becomes an essential part of their role and activities. Responsible for HR and Career Advisor training and readiness as it relates to the performance management processes.
Working with business leaders provide a vehicle and process for organizational and individual goal setting and alignment so that global business objectives cascade effectively on an annual basis and individuals can see how they contribute to business priorities.
Project manage, monitor and oversee the execution of the performance management process across Avanade, highlighting areas where performance management skills and focus could be improved.
Working with the Head of People Ecosystem to ensure that the performance management framework is wholly supportive of the Avanade career model and that the Avanade Career Model is reflective of needs/demand seen in performance management practices
Promote a performance management climate within HR so that HR becomes an exemplar of effective performance management and people development.
Defined employee engagement strategy and objectives as an integrated part of overall HR strategy
Develops and manages portfolio of engagement programs in alignment with established organizational and HR objectives and priorities
Partners with HR and business to source, pilot, and iterate ideas for engagement programs, tracking early results and prioritizing successful and scalable programs for organization-wide implementation
Drives global implementation and change management efforts related to employee engagement programs, training and supporting HR and business leaders, as well as communicating with employees
All accountability areas will have fully defined strategies and frameworks, including detailed supporting processes and common definitions. Detailed project plans will ensure successful execution of all key supporting processes, change management efforts and communications.

Likely years’ experience:
10+ years in leading a global Performance Management / Talent Management team
Significant experience of developing and implementing talent management/executive development/performance management strategies that have delivered demonstrable business benefit. It would be advantageous to have experience in technology and/or consulting industry with the ability to share best practice with peers and colleagues
Experience in management consultancy or technology industry preferred
Likely years’ managerial experience:
Experience in managing and leading executive professionals in a corporate environment
Must be a proven people developer, have executive presence and a track record of dealing effectively with executive leaders from diverse backgrounds

design and implement processes and interventions that develop skills in goal setting, performance review and feedback for our Career Advisers and people
Your education likely:
- BA or BS degree is required; MA, MS or MBA (or the equivalent) is preferred. Fields of study can include, but are not limited to: Business, Psychology, Organizational Development, and/or Human Resources. Alternatively, this candidate may have a technical degree and background with a strong interest and solid track record in Talent Management, Performance Management and/or Executive Development
Executive Coaching certification is preferred
Hogan, PDI Profiler 360 and other leadership assessments is preferred
Myers-Briggs (MBTI), Social Styles or other psychometric instruments – optional
