About the role

Avanade’s Business Development group is responsible for generating the new business that drives our consistently outstanding growth. This team brings in net-new business and continuously nurtures and expands existing customer relationships by identifying new service and solution opportunities.

As a Director of Business Development, you’ll be assigned a portfolio of customers or asked to partner with an account manager on specific opportunities. You’ll identify and initiate relationships with new high-value customers and cross-sell new services to existing customers. You’ll lead your team in consistently exceeding customer satisfaction.

Daily responsibilities include:

Plan and manage sales performance, forecasting, revenue generation and customer satisfaction for assigned accounts

Architect complex and high-impact sales deals

Lead customer engagement opportunities from lead generation to deal review, negotiation and closing

Create compelling proposals and work with engineering to coordinate delivery

Develop strong C-level customer relationships, manage customer satisfaction, and drive cross-sell opportunities

Maintain high-level understanding of Avanade offerings, Microsoft and Accenture solutions, and competitors' offerings

Develop and maintain opportunity pipeline using Avanade customer relationship management (CRM) system.

You have experience selling large, complex, multi-year IT projects and solutions and working with global delivery centers. You are willing and able to travel. With at least seven years of services sales or professional consulting experience, and at least five years in management, you are a seasoned business development veteran.

You likely have a Bachelor's degree in business, sales, or marketing and, even better, an MBA or equivalent.

Qualifications

Years of Experience: 7+ years of services sales or professional consulting experience

Management Experience: 5+ years of management experience

Education: Bachelor's degree in business, sales or marketing recommended; advanced degree (M.B.A. or equivalent) preferred

Other Skills/Knowledge:

  • Strong customer interface and presentation skills, with a Customer Focus attitude

  • Able to skillfully navigate through negotiation phases

  • Able to demonstrate thought leadership and innovation in addressing our customer's business needs

  • Strong track record in managing sales pipelines and in meeting sales and delivered revenue quotas

  • High level of understanding of Avanade solutions, Microsoft products and technology services, Accenture industry solutions and of competitive offerings

  • Strong track record of selling complex IT projects and solution selling

  • Able to leverage extensive network of inside and outside contacts to increase influence

The Director, Business Development, in the Managed Services Service Line has the following additional requirements:

  • Experience selling global on/offshore solutions, working with global delivery centers

  • Significant territory or quota responsibilities in previous Sales positions

  • Experience selling large scale, multi-year managed services solutions

  • Experience working with customer teams to identify Managed Services opportunities, and working through the DEEPR process from lead generation to deal closings for managed services deals
